Biography

My background includes general biology (Moravian College), cytogenetics and quantitative genetics (University of Minnesota, advised by Ronald Phillips), and plant stress physiology (University of Delaware, advised by John Boyer). As an Assistant Research Professor in Professor Tumer's laboratory at Rutgers University, I have used yeast genetics to identify genes and pathways that impact both ricin (RTA) and trichothecene cytotoxicity. The goal of our current research is to identify plant genes that improve resistance to Fusarium graminearum which causes Fusarium Head Blight (FHB) disease in small grain cereals.
