To develop improved cultivars and study the genetic mechanisms of important plant species for adaptation to climate change and enhanced nutritional quality.
Objectives
- To become a world leader in the genetics and breeding of plants for adaptation to climate change and enhanced nutritional quality
- Perform internationally recognized fundamental research in areas of plant biochemistry, development, genetics, morphology, and physiology that are supportable by federal agencies or other national and international organizations
- Provide a rigorous quality education at the graduate and undergraduate levels to students interested in diverse plant biology careers
