Natural Products Option Course Curriculum
The Natural Products option in the Plant Science major is designed for students intending to pursue a career in the flavors, fragrance, personal care and/or cannabis industries. The curriculum is designed to provide students with the fundamental knowledge and practical skills needed to identify, cultivate, research, and market natural plant products for human health and wellness.
Students in the Natural Products option specialize in one of two tracks:
- The Ethnobotany and Global Health specialization is designed for students with an interest in the roles plants play in human health, environmental issues, public policy, or sustainability.
- Students who select the Production of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants specialization will learn the additional skills needed for indoor and field cultivation of horticultural plants used for medicinal or other purposes.
All students must meet with a Plant Science advisor each semester to select the appropriate courses in order to ensure they are on track to graduate in a timely manner.
Not sure where to begin? Contact an advisor to find out if this option is a good fit for you.
